Chelsea keen on recruiting former Liverpool executive Michael Edwards

Chelsea are understood to be keen on recruiting former Liverpool executive Michael Edwards who has been credited with the Anfield club’s success on the transfer front in recent years.

Edwards is in line to leave the Liverpool camp this summer and the outgoing sporting director is wanted by the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United, according to a report from Sky Sports.

The 46-year-old has handed over the Liverpool duties to Julian Ward who takes over ahead of the start of the new season and would be an important part of the club’s setup alongside the boss Jurgen Klopp.

Chelsea, meanwhile, on the back of the change in their ownership, are expected to overhaul their ranks and backroom staff and bringing in the highly-rated Edwards will certainly be a shot in the arm for Thomas Tuchel’s west Londoners.

Chairman Bruce Buck and director Marina Granovskaia are set to call it quits at Stamford Bridge come June 30 and the Blues have been credited with an interest in luring Atletico Madrid’s Andrea Berta to the English capital.
