According to the Guardian, Chelsea has joined the competition to sign highly sought-after midfielder Gabriel Veiga from Celta Vigo.
The 21-year-old has been a standout performer for Celta this season, contributing 11 goals and four assists in 36 league appearances. Newcastle United and Real Madrid are also interested in the young player.
While Celta is prepared to let their academy product leave this summer, they insist that Veiga will only be sold if a club triggers his €40 million release clause.
The Celta’s academy graduate has become an integral part of their first team. He is the second-highest scorer for the club this season, with only Iago Aspas surpassing him with 12 goals.

Real Madrid had shown interest in Veiga but were hesitant to meet his release clause, preferring a player-plus-cash deal instead. Chelsea has now entered the race to secure the Spanish midfielder’s signature.
Kai Havertz has caught the attention of Real Madrid, who are reportedly interested in signing the German forward this summer.
Despite his memorable match-winning goal in the 2021 Champions League final, Havertz’s performances since joining Chelsea from Bayer Leverkusen have been inconsistent.
The German’s time at Stamford Bridge has been underwhelming, as he has struggled to meet expectations, scoring 32 goals and providing 15 assists in 139 games.
In the current season, he managed just ten goal contributions in 47 appearances across all competitions. His potential departure would help Chelsea in terms of squad space and reducing the wage bill, allowing the club to strengthen key areas of the team.
