Rennes starlet Eduardo Camavinga has attracted considerable interest in this summer’s transfer window with Manchester United being positioned as the frontrunners to land his much sought after signature.
Reports from The Express, however, suggest that Chelsea too are interested in signing the France international midfielder and will be joining the fray for his services alongside their Premier League foes United.
The Blues have been backed to spend big this summer which is their first transfer window under the new boss Thomas Tuchel but the German’s priority has been on finding a proven goal-getter for his side to add to his options up top on the pitch.
But with Billy Gilmour departing for Premier League new boys Norwich City in a season-long loan agreement and Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tiémoué Bakayoko not expected to hold a firm interest in staying at the club beyond this summer, Tuchel might be forced to bring in a fresh face to bolster his existing names in the centre of the park.
Camavinga has just a year remaining on his current deal at Ligue 1 outfit Rennes and the 18-year-old is understood to be keen on sealing a move to a top club in Europe with Chelsea likely to give Manchester United a run for their money in the chase for the Frenchman.
