Sevilla’s central defender Jules Kounde is a hot prospect in this summer’s transfer window with the Frenchman courting interest from some of the biggest clubs across the continent.
Reports from El Desmarque suggest that Chelsea are too in the fray for the Sevilla man despite Manchester United backed to turn to Kounde should they fail to land the signature of Raphael Varane.
Varane has been heavily linked with a move away from Real Madrid ahead of the start of the new season and Manchester United are being reckoned as the frontrunner to sign him with Chelsea also in the race for the World Cup-winning centre-back.
Chelsea’s interest in Kounde does not come as a shock to many considering the Blues have lost a quality talent in Fikayo Tomori to AC Milan on a permanent basis and doubts still remain over the futures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen heading into the 2021-22 campaign.

Thomas Tuchel’s priority is on finding a big-name forward for his side this summer, Erling Haaland being his top target, but improving upon his options at the back will be of paramount importance to the Chelsea boss who lost out on the signature of Sergio Ramos to Paris Saint-Germain recently.
