Chelsea identify Burnley manager Vincent Kompany as a managerial target

Chelsea have reportedly identified Burnley manager Vincent Kompany as a managerial target with Todd Boehly impressed by the former’s work in the Championship.

According to a report from The Times, it is claimed that the Stamford Bridge giants are keen on the former Manchester City skipper Kompany who has led Burnley to promotion back to the Premier League in his first season at Turf Moor.

The Blues have placed ex-manager Frank Lampard in temporary charge as their caretaker boss until the end of the season while the Chelsea top officials commit to an extensive and detailed process to find Graham Potter’s successor.

Besides Kompany, another name doing the rounds with the speculation hanging over the Chelsea top job is that of Palmeiras coach Abel Ferreira who has won the Copa Libertadores with the Brazilian giants.

The favourites for the managerial vacancy, however, remain the former Spain and Barcelona boss Luis Enrique and the recently sacked Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann with the latter holding talks for the first time in person last week.
