Chelsea are hoping to wrap up a deal for RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol with the centre-back key to Graham Potter’s transfer plans ahead of the January window.
Gvardiol was heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in the summer before Chelsea splashed the cash on signing two centre-backs in Kalidou Koulibaly and Wesley Fofana from Napoli and Leicester City respectively.
It is understood that the Chelsea boss Graham Potter, who is looking to bolster his backline in the coming transfer windows, has earmarked the young Croatian Gvardiol as a top name on his shopping list with a meeting on the cards after the World Cup.
According to a report from The Daily Express, it is claimed that the Blues are to be in close contact with the player’s camp and should get the deal over the finish line Gvardiol ready to make the move to the Premier League.
Chelsea would be prepared for all that is required to beat the increasing competition to the Bundesliga talent’s signature with the likes of Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur also in the mix for the 20-year-old defender.
