Chelsea are hoping to sign the highly-rated midfielder Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United while the Magpies are readying a contract renewal offer for their star player.
Guimaraes has been one of the most influential players for Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe this season and his showings in the centre of the park have been key to the club sitting in the top four of the league table.
According to a report from Goal, Chelsea’s hunt for midfield reinforcements, in wake of the long-term injury to N’Golo Kante, has taken them to St. James’ Park with the Blues keeping close tabs on the Brazilian Guimaraes.
It is understood that despite rumours of Newcastle planning to table a mouthwatering contract proposal for Guimaraes, Graham Potter’s Chelsea are mulling over making an approach for Guimaraes ahead of the upcoming January transfer window.
Potter could lose out on another senior midfield name in Jorginho come the end of the season with the Italy international maestro’s deal due to expire in the summer and speculation of his return to the Serie A gaining ground of late.
