Chelsea are hopeful of reaching an agreement to extend Thiago Silva’s contract soon with talks between the two parties progressing.
Silva’s current terms at the Bridge were due to expire this coming summer and there had been rumours suggesting an exit could be on the cards for the veteran centre-back with Chelsea busy in their major rebuild of Graham Potter’s squad.
The Brazilian defender, however, has been one of the best performers for Chelsea this season despite the club languishing mid-table in the Premier League and the Blues board are keen to retain Silva’s services for the 2023-24 season.

According to the transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Silva is considered an influential presence in the Chelsea dressing room beside his ability on the pitch and Graham Potter’s side are waiting for the green light to extend his contract until the summer of 2024.
The defender turned 38 last September but remains a mainstay of the Chelsea backline which has convinced the club’s board to table an offer that would see the former PSG man stay on for at least another 12 months.
