Chelsea have held talks with Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim over the manager vacancy at Stamford Bridge for the new season.
The Blues, who appointed ex-manager Frank Lampard to the top job on an interim basis until the end of the season, are committed to an extensive search for a longer term option and want to make a considered decision.
According to a report from The Guardian, it is claimed that Sporting CP boss Ruben Amorim has been earmarked by Chelsea who have who held talks with the 38-year-old who has grown into one of the brightest young coaching talents in Europe.
Under Amorim’s charge, Sporting have continued to sparkle, winning the Portuguese title in 2021 and impressing in their European displays as they knocked Arsenal out of the last 16 of the Europa League last month.
Chelsea have the likes of Luis Enrique and Julian Nagelsmann on their shortlist of candidates for a new manager with the latter, who was sacked by Bayern Munich recently, favoured by the Blues co-owner Behdad Eghbali.
