Chelsea hijack Arsenal’s plans for Raphinha with last-minute bid

Chelsea have played spoilsport to rival club Arsenal’s plans for Raphinha with a last-minute bid that moves them in front of the queue to land the highly-rated Brazilian winger.

Thomas Tuchel’s hunt for attacking reinforcements in this summer’s transfer window appears to have taken a surprise turn with the west Londoners now chasing Raphinha who was a top target for both Arsenal and Barcelona.

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Chelsea have made an official proposal to Raphinha and his agent Deco, the former Chelsea midfielder, to mull over with the Blues owner Todd Boehly keen to wrap up the deal quickly.

Romelu Lukaku’s imminent exit from the Stamford Bridge fold, with the Belgium international arriving in Milan to finalise his return to Inter, would fast-track Chelsea’s search for new attacking signings, according to the rumour mill.

Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling is another priority target for Tuchel with Chelsea likely to make a second and improved bid for the England international later this week after having their initial offer turned down.
