Chelsea have been handed a boost in pursuit of Inter Milan centre-back Milan Skriniar whose future at San Siro remains subject to much uncertainty.
Skriniar has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in the recent past as the new Chelsea boss Graham Potter eyes up reinforcements from the transfer market to bolster his backline.
The 27-year-old defender is set to enter free agency next summer after failing to secure a move to Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain a few months back which had been expected to go through despite Chelsea keen on his signature.
According to a report from Football Italia, Chelsea could emerge as the prime candidates to land Skriniar with Inter yet to improve their contract offer to the centre-back who is considering other options ahead of summer 2023.
The Blues find themselves on the hunt for a defender months after splashing big money on signing Kalidou Koulibaly and Wesley Fofana with the latter sidelined for the majority of the campaign so far after making his move from Leicester City.
