Chelsea was offered the proposition to sign former Premier League star, Christian Eriksen from Inter Milan in this summer transfer window, according to Italian pundit Fabrizio Romano.
The Denmark star who scored the only goal against England just a few days back in Uefa Nations League only left Tottenham Hotspur last season. He moved to Serie A club, Inter Milan under the manage Antonio Conte.
But since his move, he never has been the same player he was at Spurs. The news says that it has now been revealed that he was one of a number of players who could have switched a London club this summer.
Ultimately, no move materialized as the Lampard’s midfield was already well-stocked in that position.
“We told you about the situation of Brozovic, we talked about the situation of Marcos Alonso, Emerson Palmieri, Victor Moses,” Romano said on the Here We Go podcast,
“Inter and Chelsea were talking many times this summer to find some way to do some deals together. They didn’t, because they didn’t do anything this summer.
“But they were talking about many players and at one point when Inter were interested in Kante, but it was really impossible and was nothing advanced, they were talking also about the situation of Christian Eriksen, offering Eriksen to Chelsea.
“Chelsea said no but the decision was more from Lampard than from the board because Lampard said, ‘No, in this moment we have this kind of player with Ziyech, we’ve signed him, I’m convinced in this moment that Ziyech is fantastic and perfect for our football more than Eriksen.”
Inter were keen to sign N’Golo Kante in this transfer window.
Inter’s interest in Kante came when they failed to land Brescia’s midfielder, Sandro Tonali. Tonali joined the AC Milan club leaving Antonio Conte desperate for a quality midfielder.
Chelsea’s midfielder has now fallen down the pecking order due to the likes of new summer signings. He is 29 years old and as per rumors Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard thought of allowing him to leave the Stamford Bridge to balance the books.
