Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy is reportedly sidelined for Wednesday night’s Champions League group stage clash against RB Salzburg with an injury.
The Senegal international has endured a shaky start to the new campaign with under-fire displays between the goalposts for Chelsea and now faces a brief spell on the sidelines.
According to a report from football.london, it is claimed that Mendy, who is working his way to full fitness from a patella tendon injury, will be in line to sit out on Chelsea’s midweek outing in the Champions League against Austrian outfit Salzburg.
Mendy has been under the supervision of the Chelsea medical staff during the opening days of the newly appointed Chelsea head coach Graham Potter’s reign with the manager unable to call upon the services of the first-choice shot stopper at the Bridge.
Potter could be forced to turn to Kepa to feature on the starting team sheet for Chelsea in the Salzburg clash with the latter set for a rare return to the XI on a regular basis with Mendy out injured for the next couple of weeks.
