Chelsea gave the sack to manager Thomas Tuchel following the Champions League opener defeat to Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday night, confirmed the club through an official statement on the website.
The Blues had endured a shaky start to the new season and the shock loss to Dinamo in the opening group stage fixture proved to be the final nail in the coffin for the under-fire Tuchel.
Chelsea have picked up just 10 points from six Premier League outings so far this campaign despite a busy summer transfer window under the new owners which saw the west Londoners fork out £278.4 million on new signings.
The Stamford Bridge board – led by the new co-owner Todd Boehly, had been earnest in their efforts to help Tuchel overhaul his squad for the new season but Chelsea’s form early on in the season failed to impress Boehly and Co.
Boehly is on the hunt for the new man to take charge at the Bridge with the names of Brighton head coach Graham Potter and ex-Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino doing the rounds.
