Chelsea FC boss Frank Lampard has expressed interest in signing FC Barcelona’s Marc Andre ter Stegen for his side. The Blues manager’s interest in the German shot-stopper comes amid rumors of a change in Chelsea FC’s goalkeeping spot ahead of next season.
Recent reports suggest that the Blues will include Kepa Arrizabalaga in a player plus cash deal for ter Stegen. Offering Kepa as a part of a potential bid for FC Barcelona’s shot-stopper should reduce the Spanish club’s asking price for their German star.
Current Blues’ goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga failed to impress Lampard in the slightest with his recent run of form. The Spanish international has the second-worst save percentage among goalkeepers this season in the Premier League. Kepa’s performances of late in the Chelsea FC shirt have been largely error-prone which has further added to the club’s recent defensive woes.
The Blues’ backline has conceded the greatest number of goals among the top ten teams in the Premier League standings. To solve this issue, Lampard has decided to bring in additional defensive reinforcements for his side in the summer. Besides a new center-back signing, replacing Kepa is now also a priority for the Chelsea FC boss.

A number of top goalkeeping talents have been linked with the Blues in recent weeks. Names such as Jan Oblak and Jordan Pickford have been rumored to be shortlisted by Lampard as possible transfer targets this summer. Moreover, Ajax’s André Onana has been the source of considerable interest from Chelsea FC since last summer.
With Lampard’s side being considered as title challengers for next season, signing a world-class goalkeeper would further enhance the Blue squad. Serious attacking firepower has already been added to Chelsea FC in the form of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech. Lampard plans to resolve the lack of midfield creativity with the prolonged transfer battle for 21-year old Kai Havertz.
With the Chelsea FC boss in no mood to turn down his spending, it is very likely that we could see a fresh face between the sticks for the Blues come next season.
