Chelsea FC is looking to sign FC Porto’s Jesus Corona, with the player’s agent confirming the rumors that talks have taken place between the Premier League club and Corona about a possible transfer in the summer. The Blues are set to lose their two most experienced attackers in the squad in the upcoming transfer window in the form of Willian and Pedro, who is widely expected to leave the club at the expiry of their current contract.
Chelsea FC manager Frank Lampard is believed to be highly interested in securing the transfer of hot prospect Jadon Sancho, who currently plays for Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund. However, Lampard is being priced out of a possible deal for the English attacker, who was a childhood Chelsea FC fan, with Dortmund valuing their star player at £120million. Such a high price tag is forcing The Blues coach to look elsewhere for alternatives.
Corona, a Mexican international, has impressed for Portuguese side FC Porto in the past couple of seasons. Despite being a winger, the player is also able to operate in a wing-back role for his team and has recorded seven assists to his name in 24 appearances this season.
The player’s agent Matias Bunge has revealed that there has been prior contact made by Chelsea FC representatives with the Blues manager Lampard keen on signing the 27-year old Corona before the start of the next season.
Moreover, Bunge has stated that a possible move for the player to Chelsea FC is very much on the cards. However, there is a possibility of the transfer to be impacted by the current outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
The agent explained that he had no idea regarding Corona’s priority, as seen by the Chelsea FC management for a possible transfer. However, he added that interest in his client had been brewing up for a while owing to the player’s terrific performances for his club FC Porto in recent seasons. Bunge believes that once the resumption of the football leagues gets underway, there would be much more clarity regarding Corona’s move to the Blues.
