Chelsea fans have been fuming over what defender Kurt Zouma did just before Danny Ings’ scored a goal for Southampton at the Stamford Bridge 3-3 draw.
The Blues lost three points in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon after Southampton made an incredible comeback and scored an equalizer in the extra time of the match.
A brace inside the opening 30 minutes from German striker, Timo Werner gave Frank Lampard’s team a lead and hope for an easy win but Ings pulled a goal back right before the45th minute.
It was in the run-up to this goal where a slow pass from Kurt Zouma to Kepa was followed by Ings who got hold of the ball to score the goal.
Fans were left raging with Zouma and that was exposed fully on Reddit where the incident was termed as ‘in shambles’, ’embarrassing’, and ‘shocking’.
One of those fans commented on how awful the goal was to concede and Kepa wasn’t responsible for the situation other than Zouma. His back pass created the situation and the Blues defender didn’t even show intent to prevent the goal.
Another one describes him as pitiful and asks Lampard to bench him. The mistake is said to be forgivable, but that reaction there isn’t. It is something totally due to atrocious defending and lack of responsibility.
The way he was just stood there slowly walking along and raising his hands relying on his teammates to clear it instead of running back himself shows the horrifying condition of Lamaprd’s players. Previously, he was slammed by an ex-England defender who said he was not good enough to be in Chelsea.
Zouma produced some decent performances for Chelsea in recent times, but he’s still prone to some very poor defending, as we got to see here.
