Chelsea face competition from Manchester United to sign Aston Villa and Argentina goalkeeper Emi Martinez in this summer’s transfer window.
The Blues are keen to bring in a new goalkeeper for the squad over the summer with current first-team options Kepa and Edouard Mendy likely to be shown the exit door as part of the proposed rebuild at Stamford Bridge.
According to a tweet from TyC Sports journalist Gaston Edul, it is indicated that the World Cup winning shot stopper Martinez is a target for both Chelsea and Manchester United who are keeping close tabs on the Aston Villa No.1
Martinez has a contract with Aston Villa until June 2027 but the Argentine international could be interested in making the move elsewhere with some of England’s biggest clubs keen on landing his coveted signature come the summer.
The former Arsenal man has grown into one of the best goalkeepers in world football following his pivotal role for the world champions Argentina in Qatar last year where he won the Golden Glove honour.
