Chelsea face a challenge from Italian giants AC Milan in their plans to land the coveted signature of the RB Leipzig defender Mohamed Simakan.
Simakan has emerged as one of the standout performers in the Leipzig backline since his move to the Bundesliga outfit from French club Strasbourg in 2021 and his stellar run of displays have attracted the interest of some of the biggest clubs across Europe.
According to a report from Fichajes, it is claimed that Chelsea and AC Milan are set to go head to head for signing the 22-year-old Simakan who has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in the past.
Rumours suggest that the Blues were right in the mix for the then Strasbourg talent before he joined Leipzig where he has played in both the right-back and centre-back positions which makes him a viable target for the Chelsea boss Graham Potter.
The Blues, under the new head coach Potter, are expected to dip into the market when the transfer window reopens for business come January as Potter eyes up reinforcements to bolster his backline.
