Chelsea Eyeing To Sign £40 million Player To Partner With Jackson

Under manager Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea are still striving make the Europa League for the 2024/25 season. This year, they missed out on all European games. If they qualify for the Europa League or Europa Conference League next season, their game count will rise. The Blues aim to boost their squad by signing a Premier League striker.

The latest addition will fight with Nicolas Jackson, their current forward, for a place in the starting lineup.

Ivan Toney

Simon Phillips, a journalist says Chelsea plans to sign a new forward for 2024/25. Brentford’s Ivan Toney is on their list. His boss, Thomas Frank, once called him a “monster” and he may cost around £40 million.

If Chelsea signs Toney, he can share the burden of scoring goals with Jackson. It would also allow Pochettino to rotate both players to avoid fatigue and maintain high competition. Toney can also act as a mentor to the young Jackson because he is six years older than him.

The 28-year-old Toney has a great deal of experience playing in English football. He played in the Premier League for almost three seasons and scored 36 goals and provided ten assists in 84 matches. In addition, he scored 31 goals and provided ten assists in 35 Championship games.

Toney has been consistent with his goal-scoring for Brentford over the past four seasons, scoring 16 to 17 more goals than expected based on the quality of chances created for him. On the other hand, Jackson has scored three goals less than expected in the Premier League this season, which means he must improve his finishing.

Nicolas Jackson

Chelsea, by signing Toney, would finally offer Jackson a role model—a man lethal in front of goal. This would provide Jackson with an opportunity to learn from a proven, experienced striker. The experience of Toney could mean that a partnership with the raw, undoubted talent of Jackson could form a formidable partnership for Chelsea.

The players would be able to compete and help each other get better in training. Jackson could also learn from watching Toney’s performances, both during matches and in training. Therefore, Toney would be an excellent partner for Jackson on the pitch and a role model off the pitch.
