Chelsea are understood to be eyeing RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardio as Antonio Rudiger’s replacement ahead of this coming summer.
Rudiger looks all set to call it quits in the English capital city heading into the next season with the Germany international closing in on sealing terms with his longstanding suitors Real Madrid.
With his departure from the Chelsea fold expected to come as a major blow for the boss Thomas Tuchel, there is speculation doing the rounds that Tuchel would dip into the transfer market for reinforcements to shore up his defensive options.
According to a claim from the journalist Florian Plettenberg, Tuchel has his heart set on launching a bid for the Leipzig talent Josko Gvardio who has been one of the standout players for the Bundesliga outfit over the course of the season.
Gvardio is happy to stay put at Leipzig but a big-ticket move to England’s top flight to play for Chelsea could be lucrative enough for the 20-year-old central defender to mull over in the weeks to come.
