Chelsea are eyeing a surprise move for Everton shot-stopper Jordan Pickford with the Blues co-owner Todd Boehly on the lookout for a new goalkeeper.
Pickford will be heading into the World Cup in Qatar which got underway on Sunday on the back of a disappointing run of showings in the Everton shirt which has put the English goalkeeper under fire from the Goodison supporters.
Recent reports have suggested that Edouard Mendy is mulling over his future in west London after losing the starting berth on the team sheet to Kepa Arrizabalaga since Graham Potter took over at the club.
According to a report from The Sun, it is claimed that Pickford is being eyed by the Chelsea camp as an alternative to Brighton’s Spanish goalie Robert Sanchez who has courted interest from Chelsea and Manchester United of late.
Sanchez remains Potter’s top name on the shopping list ahead of the January window but Brighton are sure to demand a big fee to green-light the 24-year-old’s move away from Amex following his stock on the rise in recent weeks.
