Chelsea Eyeing £20 Million Deal For Prolific Striker Jonathan David

Chelsea are targeting Jonathan David, a prolific striker who recently completed 148 club career goals.

The Lille forward could be available for as little as £20 million this summer and therefore might easily prove to be a bargain for the Blues.

The owner, Todd Boehly, has backed the new head coach, Enzo Maresca, well in this very active transfer window.

So far, Chelsea has spent £90 million on signings including Tosin Adarabioyo, Marc Guiu, Omari Kellyman, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, the promising Brazilian starlet Estevao Willian, alongside Renato Veiga of FC Basel.

The net spend for Chelsea, regarding Financial Fair Play regulations, is well-placed at around £4 million.

Now, a senior attacking option is being targeted, and for that, they are interested to sign a right-winger to either provide competition or merely act as back-up for Raheem Sterling, Mykhailo Mudryk, and Noni Madueke.

Heavily touted as the suitable candidate is Borussia Dortmund striker Karim Adeyemi.

According to media reports, Chelsea is looking to hand Adeyemi a seven-year contract and is ready to make a bid in his chase.

At £25 million, the 22-year-old might just be within Boehly’s financial plans.

While Chelsea were scouting for the Napoli star, Victor Osimhen, with his £110 million release clause, they reportedly looked at other more feasible options.

One of these is Jonathan David, the 24-year-old Lille striker.

He is highly prolific in Ligue 1 and holds an impressive record of 148 career goals for club and country.

According to 90min, Chelsea are keeping a keen eye on the possibility of signing Lille striker Jonathan David this summer.

A product of the Canadian national team, the 22-year-old has delivered an impressive 27 goals in 53 caps for his nation, enough to put him as an attractive prospect in the Barracks of top clubs.

For all his exceptional record, David is yet to secure a big-money transfer move, but Chelsea could do just that.

The Blues face competition for his signature from fellow Londoners Tottenham and West Ham, who are both monitoring the situation of the Canadian striker.

The Blues still have to decide whether or not to press ahead with their interest, but David’s age, goalscoring record and price tag make for a very attractive proposition.

In simple terms, interest in Jonathan David makes sense as a move to strengthen Chelsea’s attacks without breaking the bank.

Perhaps coming at a reasonable cost, David’s solid track record might offer proper value to Maresca going into the new season as the Blues continue to build on their squad.
