According to the Sun, Chelsea is trying to persuade LOSC Lille forward Jonathan David to sign a long-term contract with the club, maybe during the summer transfer window as they aim to sign another young attacker.
Due to his impressive displays in Ligue 1 this season, where he is among the top scorers in the division, the teenage striker has drawn a lot of attention.
David had long been hailed as one of the most promising young players in the world, and his reputation increased significantly after he helped Lille defeat Paris Saint-Germain to win the Ligue 1 championship the previous year and helped Canada reach the world cup stage. The forward was instrumental in their amazing ascent to the top, regularly finding the back of the net.
The striker could consider a summer transfer to a major league club. He is still in his prime at 22, and Chelsea may have acquired a player who may provide us with a long-term option in the attack. Several other clubs are reportedly interested in the Canadian forward, so Chelsea will find it difficult to sign him. Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur are on the list of probable suitors, therefore there is a reasonable probability that a transfer battle will take place in the summer.
The signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was always intended to be a stopgap measure before the club signed a younger striker to spearhead the line for the future.
Romelu Lukaku was supposed to be that magic signing last summer, but he could not do so, and he finally departed the club on loan. The blues are already close to signing Christopher Nkunku, but they also have their sights set on Ligue One’s leading scorer.
Jonathan David might soon join Christopher Nkunku if Chelsea decides to go all out for his services.
