Chelsea eye Aurelien Tchouameni as Declan Rice’s alternative this summer

Chelsea look set to miss on the much-coveted signing of West Ham United’s Declan Rice which is likely to shift Thomas Tuchel’s attention towards eyeing up a move for Aurelien Tchouameni this summer.

Reports from The Athletic claim that with Rice backed to stay put with The Hammers and expected to pen a new deal at the London Stadium, Chelsea will be forced to look elsewhere in the transfer market for an alternative signing.

The Blues have been backed to use this summer’s window to bring in a new midfield face and the England international Rice had been Tuchel’s priority target according to much speculation in recent times.

Aurelien Tchouameni who turns out for Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco has made his name as one of the top talents in French top-flight action and the 21-year-old midfield talent could be looking to secure a big-money to Stamford Bridge ahead of the next season’s start.

Tchouameni is certain to be a cut-price alternative for Thomas Tuchel and Chelsea who were facing the possibility of shelling out a fee in the region of £100 million to land the signature of Rice.
