Chelsea are said to be engaged in talks with midfielder Jorginho over a new contract as the Blues look to tie him down to a new long-term deal.
Jorginho’s current terms are up for renewal come the end of the season and there has been intense speculation over his future at Stamford Bridge with some of Europe’s biggest clubs credited with an interest in the Italian.
While La Liga giants FC Barcelona were the latest to be linked with an approach for the Chelsea man, the likes of Juventus and Napoli, the latter of which is the player’s former club, have been considered frontrunners for his signature.
According to Matte Moretto ( via football.london), however, Chelsea have not given up on convincing Jorginho to extend his stay in west London with the Chelsea board pushing for a new deal as they remain involved in talks with the player.
Graham Potter, new to the job at Chelsea, will not be delighted to lose out on a player of Jorginho’s ability as the Chelsea boss frets over the lack of quality options in midfield following a four-month-long injury layoff awaiting N’Golo Kante.
