According to The Sun, Chelsea have defeated the likes of Manchester City in the race to sign 14-year-old Sunderland prodigy Toby Bell.
Manchester City had shown interest in the young talent due to his impressive development and had hopes of bringing him to their club. However, Chelsea have secured the signing of Bell ahead of their rivals.
The Blues have successfully convinced teenager Toby Bell to join their Cobham Training Centre by presenting a compelling offer.
Sunderland’s youth academy has a track record of producing excellent goalkeepers, including Jordan Pickford, who became an Everton star and England’s number-one keeper after making a name for himself at the Stadium of Light.

Another promising goalkeeper, Anthony Patterson, also began his senior career at Sunderland. However, Bell has chosen to continue his development at Chelsea instead. The West London club have been highly active in the current Premier League transfer window.
Chelsea have been active in the transfer market, securing the signings of Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal for £32 million and Christopher Nkunku in a £52 million deal. However, their focus has primarily been on player departures rather than arrivals.
They have sold Kai Havertz to Arsenal and Mason Mount to Manchester United, while N’Golo Kante, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Edouard Mendy have all made moves to Saudi Arabia. Mateo Kovacic, Christian Pulisic, Cesar Azpilicueta, and David Datro Fofana have also left Stamford Bridge.
