Chelsea have reportedly emerged as the frontrunners to land the coveted signature of Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni ahead of the forthcoming January transfer window.
The France international is rumoured to be one of the top names on the shopping list for the Blues gaffer Thomas Tuchel who has been scouting the market for reinforcements in midfield.
Saul Niguez’s loan spell at Stamford Bridge has been unconvincing for Chelsea and Tuchel is unlikely to retain the Spaniard beyond next summer with speculation rife that Saul could be on his way to Atletico Madrid as early as January.
Reports from TuttoJuve claim that the Blues camp are leading the widely-contested race with the likes of Liverpool and Juventus to secure Tchouameni’s signing come January when the transfer window reopens for the month-long period.
Tchouameni’s displays in the Ligue 1 with Monaco has earned the young midfield talent plaudits and it is suggested that a move to England’s top flight is on the cards with Monaco looking for a sizable fee to part ways with the player.
