The Blues are poised to open contract talks with the highly-rated young midfield player Conor Gallagher, according to reports. Chelsea FC are hoping to extend the 20-year old’s current deal amid Gallagher garnering a number of suitors in the Premier League after his terrific run of form for Swansea City last season.
The midfielder performed exceptionally well for Steve Cooper’s side as they progressed to the Championship play-offs. Gallagher featured 19 times for the Swans across the Welsh club’s 2019-20 league campaign.
He had signed for Swansea City in the January transfer window this year after spending the initial part of the season on loan at Charlton.
Newcastle United, Aston Villa, and Premier League new-boys Leeds United, have all registered interest in making a move for the 20-year old Gallagher ahead of the upcoming 2020-21 season.
The player’s current deal with the Blues runs only for another two years. Chelsea FC are understood to be keen on committing the youngster to a long-term contract extension at Stamford Bridge before sanctioning another loan move for him this summer.
