Chelsea drop out of the chase to sign Everton frontman Anthony Gordon

Chelsea have reportedly dropped out of the chase to sign Everton frontman Anthony Gordon with Tottenham Hotspur emerging as the new favourites.

Both London clubs had been credited with a strong interest in moving in for the young attacker last summer only for Everton to play hardball over the pricing front and green light the sale.

According to a report from The Sun, it is claimed that despite the Everton head coach Frank Lampard said to be keen to retain the England Under-21 international, Spurs are likely to test his resolve with a fresh offer come January.

Spurs boss Antonio Conte is keen to bring in Gordon when the transfer window reopens for business in the New Year with an approach having already been made over a move to North London in the near future.

The Blues, meanwhile, are tipped to look at alternatives in the market with the new head coach in Graham Potter not thought to be inclined towards the idea of reviving Chelsea’s interest in tabling a bid for Gordon.
