Chelsea defender Malang Sarr is reportedly set to join AS Monaco on loan with an option to make the move permanent before next summer.
According to the French news outlet L’Equipe, Sarr is closing in on signing for the Ligue 1 giants Monaco who have the option-to-buy the centre-back in the next summer window for a modest fee of €12 million.
It is understood that Sarr rebuffed interest in his services from Chelsea’s local rivals Fulham with the 23-year-old deciding to return to his homeland and link up with Monaco for the upcoming campaign.
The Blues had brought in the left-sided central defender on a free transfer from Nice two years ago and would be making a healthy profit on Sarr’s potential sale which is likely to go through as Tuchel looks to trim down his squad size.
Tuchel has his sights on signing another player in the centre-back role before the next season gets underway with the Chelsea head coach keen on moving in for the highly-rated Leicester City man Wesley Fofana.
