Chelsea defender, Fikayo Tomori takes decision to join AC Milan on loan

Chelsea’s star defender, Fikayo Tomori had joined AC Milan on the weekend with the hope to win Serie A as per Chelsea’s Official Website. AC Milan is on the top of the Italian league and their proposal to give him a starting spot in the team was enough to convince him to join their side.

He left Chelsea for the remainder of the season but the deal has a permanent buy-out clause as well. He joined at 35 million euros to strengthen the Milan defence, who are eyeing for the Scudetto. Fikayo Tomori has been rated highly but due to big names in the Chelsea defence, he has been overlooked this season.

Despite having impressed the club in the previous season, Chelsea bought Thiago Silva this season in an attempt to improve the defence. Kurt Zoum became the regular starter and Andreas Christensen was above the likes of him in the pecking order.

Tomori is young and versatile as a centre-back. he can play both at the right-back as well as in the centre and fans still wondering why Rudiger was prioritized over Tomori. Mark Schwarzer even said it to be the wrong decision to let off Tomori instead of Rudiger.

The centre-back enjoyed great success with the club at the youth level as he won the FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth League. Tomori was also named as the 2016 Academy Player of the Year
