Chelsea could perform an unexpected U-turn over their decision not to sign Cristiano Ronaldo who has entered free agency after the termination of his terms with Manchester United earlier this year.
There had been rumours of late suggesting that the Stamford Bridge camp were not keen anymore on moving in for the Portuguese superstar despite Chelsea owner Todd Boehly’s interest in him in the summer.
According to a report from The Daily Star, however, it is now claimed that the Blues could offer Ronaldo an instant return to the Premier League with the Blues set to revive a potential approach for Portugal’s record goalscorer.
Former Blues boss Thomas Tuchel was understood to be the major hurdle in Boehly tabling a bid for the then Manchester United talisman ahead of the start of the campaign with the former looking for attacking options elsewhere in the market.
Tuchel’s successor in the Chelsea dugout, Graham Potter, is likely to be interested in a player of Ronaldo’s ability and experience when the new head coach has been searching for a new forward to reinforce his front line.
