Chelsea could be in line to gain ground on the Declan Rice transfer front with Manchester United likely to end their interest in the midfielder man over pricing concerns.
Rice has his name linked with both Premier League bigwigs Chelsea and Manchester United amid the talk of the England international seeking a move away from West Ham next summer.
The 22-year-old wants Champions League football and was rumoured to be nearly out the exit door at the London Stadium this summer but David Moyes was able to retain his services for the 2021-22 campaign.
Reports from ESPN claim that the price tag slapped on Rice, worth £80-90 million, is likely to mean that the Manchester United camp will turn to other alternatives in the transfer market, giving Chelsea a chance to hijack the deal and land Thomas Tuchel’s longstanding target.
The Blues added another midfielder to their roster on deadline day this summer in Saul Niguez but the Spaniard arrives on an initial loan arrangement with an option to make the move permanent should his performances impress Tuchel.
