Chelsea could gain ground in their long-standing pursuit of Frenkie de Jong with Manchester United shifting their attention to Borussia Dortmund sensation Jude Bellingham.
The Stamford Bridge giants have been interested in moving in for De Jong since last summer when Barcelona had been open to cashing in on the midfielder who was not willing to make the switch to the Premier League.
De Jong, however, has served as a rotation option for the Barca boss Xavi so far this season and there are rumours doing the rounds that the Holland international is seeking a new destination to get his career back on track.
According to a report from The Daily Mirror, with De Jong’s other suitors in the market, Manchester United, now looking to table an approach to sign the teenage talent Jude Bellingham, Chelsea could be aided in their efforts to bring in De Jong.
The new Chelsea head coach Graham Potter will be urged to bolster his engine room options following the long-term injury to N’Golo Kante and the uncertainty that continues to loom over Jorginho’s future in west London.
