Chelsea after being dealt successive blows on the transfer front this summer in landing Erling Haaland and Romelu Lukaku have an alternate name lined up in the transfer market, according to reports from football.london.
Southampton star striker Danny Ings whose future with the Saints hangs in the balance heading into the start of the new campaign could be a major target for Thomas Tuchel to eye up in what remains of this summer window.
Ings’ deal at St. Mary’s runs out in less than a year and the England international forward has rebuffed an approach to become the highest-paid player at Southampton which gives birth to talk that he will ask for a move away from the club this summer.
His experience of playing in the Premier League and bringing up decent numbers in front of the goal could make the 28-year-old a top name on Tuchel’s shopping list with the Chelsea boss yet to make a splash in the transfer window despite sizable finances at his disposal.
Haaland and Lukaku both seem unlikely to join the west London giants this summer after their respective clubs made it known that they will not sanction the sales except for an enormous offer coming their way from Stamford Bridge.
