Chelsea have reportedly cooled their long-standing interest in AC Milan star Rafael Leao following the Blues spending heavily in the January transfer window on new recruits.
The Portugal international forward Leao has grown into one of the best players in Europe over the last two years with his displays at the San Siro earning him rave reviews besides interest from the biggest clubs across the continent.
Graham Potter’s Chelsea have long been rumoured to be in the mix for the Serie A talent who is involved in ongoing talks with AC Milan over a new deal which would see him commit his future to the Italian champions.
According to a claim from the transfer guru Fabrizio Romano in his CaughtOffside column, after recruiting Mykhailo Mudryk for big money in January and having Raheem Sterling and Christian Pulisic to call upon, Chelsea are not expected to step up their efforts to sign Leao anytime soon.
Leao’s current terms with Milan are due to expire in 2024 and the San Siro outfit are desperate to tie him down to a new long-term to ward off the other clubs keen on securing the winger’s services.
