Germany international Antonio Rudiger is in line to demand a major wage bump from Chelsea with the centre-back holding out for an improved contract which will commit his future at the club beyond this summer.
Thomas Tuchel has been keen on Rudiger putting pen to paper on a new contract at Stamford Bridge but it was Rudiger who had decided against doing the same heading into the UEFA European Championships with the German squad.
Eurosport’s Dean Jones has claimed that the Blues are could be in line to fork out £40,000 extra to lure Rudiger into extending his stay on west London amid interest shown in the player by the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain.
Rudiger currently pockets £140,000 per week and should the central defender be handed a new deal worth £200,000, he will be one of the highest-paid first-team members of Tuchel’s camp.
The player has been an integral part of the Blues side since Tuchel’s hiring earlier this year with the new boss leading them to the Champions League title in the backend of May with a win over Manchester City.
