Chelsea is reportedly considering a January move for Bournemouth defender Nathan Aké, as Frank Lampard has serious concerns over the Chelsea defense which has leaked goals this season, according to reports.
Blues boss Lampard has a reported transfer kitty of £150m, and he has confirmed that he will dip into the winter market to bolster his somewhat inexperienced squad.
The Blues have kept just four clean sheets from their 24 matches across all competitions this season, with a particularly poor showing at the back costing them dearly on Saturday versus Everton. Frank Lampard slammed the Chelsea players after their ‘mistakes’ cost them the game and is now set to strengthen the squad with a familiar face.
Ake was one of many Chelsea youth prospects who didn’t make the grade at Stamford Bridge, eventually signing for Bournemouth permanently for £20million after a series of loan spells.
However, since then he has become a key part of Eddie Howe’s team, made 13 appearances for the Dutch national side, and become a highly sought after defender.
It’s thought that Chelsea has a buy-back clause that would allow them to re-sign the player for £40m, thought to be well below his market value. Any move for Ake is said to be dependent on the fitness of Antonio Rudiger.
The Cherries defender, unfortunately, suffered a hamstring injury on his latest outing versus Liverpool, but the report declares that the injury is ‘unlikely to prevent the Blues from retaining an interest.’
Chelsea has had a good season so far despite their recent wobble and has been lauded by the football world for promoting from within their youth academy after they were banned from signing players in the summer.
