Chelsea have sounded out confirmation of Romelu Lukaku’s season-long loan move to Inter Milan with the forward set for a return to San Siro.
The Belgium international moves back to the colours of Inter a year after he joined Chelsea in a club-record deal in a transfer that soon went sour for both parties with Lukaku unable to hit top form.
Lukaku’s failure to provide the firepower in the final third for Thomas Tuchel’s side coupled with a rumoured off-the-field rift with the Chelsea boss are said to be the reasons behind the 29-year-old heading out the Stamford Bridge exit door.
A statement from the club’s official website confirms that Lukaku will be turning out for Inter in the upcoming campaign with the Serie A giants landing their former talisman in a long-term loan deal that will run until the summer of 2023.
Tuchel will now be expected to turn his attention towards bolster his attacking options in this summer’s transfer window with the likes of Raheem Sterling and Ousmane Dembele suggested to be priority targets for the German.
