According to the latest reports, Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint Germain are prepared to make a bid for Chelsea talisman Eden Hazard in the winter transfer window.
The French champions will probably have to sell either one of their star-forwards in the form of Kylian Mbappe or Neymar to meet their Financial Fair Play obligations, as was reported this week. Paris Saint Germain also feel that they can raise funds by letting go of one of the two and replacing him with Eden Hazard, who could be slightly cheaper.
While Hazard is under a full contract with Chelsea and a fee of around £150m will be more than enough for the Blues to part with arguably their most prized asset. The Belgian captain only has 18 months left on his deal and is stalling a contract extension, which means PSG could take advantage of that situation and try to reduce his transfer fee, as the Blues may be forced into accepting a lower offer rather than losing him on a free transfer come the summer of 2020.
However, that does not completely mean that Chelsea will be the pawns in this game. In fact, they could realistically drive Hazard’s asking price even higher thanks to long-standing interest from La Liga giants Real Madrid. The Spanish club and PSG will be locked in a race to sign the 27-year-old Hazard, which automatically means that the latter may have to raise their own offer. To add fuel to this transfer story, Hazard has claimed in the recent past that he wants to play for Real Madrid labeling a move to the Spanish capital a ‘dream move’.
In all honesty, Hazard could really make a move away from Stamford Bridge to the Parc Des Princes because PSG can battle any of the European heavyweights with their deep pockets. But it’s unlikely that Chelsea will settle for anything under £150 million for Eden Hazard.
