Chelsea co-owner Todd Beohly has spoken directly with contract rebel Mason Mount to convince him to stay put at Stamford Bridge beyond this summer.
Mount’s current terms with the Blues are up for renewal in June 2024 but there is the expectation that the England playmaker could be heading out the exit door at the end of the 2022-23 season.
The likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City have been credited with an interest in the 24-year-old midfielder who, despite an underwhelming campaign this term, remains one of the top players across the English top flight division.
According to a report from The Athletic, it is claimed that Blues co-owner Boehly is playing a prominent role in his club’s efforts to retain Mount’s services in west London with the former taking matters into his own hands.
The Stamford Bridge camp are believed to be unwilling to offer the midfielder the same £250,000-a-week salary that his club and county teammate Reece James was offered earlier in the season when he penned a long term extension.
