Chelsea are believed to be closing in on the appointment of club icon Frank Lampard as their interim manager until the end of the season.
Lampard was axed from the Stamford Bridge top job just two years back and the former England midfielder has been out of a job since Everton sacked him earlier this year after a poor string of results.
According to a report from The Guardian, it is claimed that Lampard, who previously managed the Blues from July 2019 until January 2021, is in line for a return to West London to take charge of his former side for the remainder of the season.
The report also mentions that the new Chelsea ownership, are committed to a thorough process in searching for a longer-term option, with the likes of Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique emerging as the favourites to replace Graham Potter.
Enrique is said to be on his way to the English capital city with his agent to hold further talks with the Chelsea board with the ex-Spain manager impressing the club in initial discussions.
