Chelsea are closing in on the £115 million signing of Enzo Fernández as the Stamford Bridge giants look set to smash the British transfer record to land the Argentine World Cup star.
The Benfica midfielder has long been the top target for Chelsea as they look to bolster their midfield before Tuesday night’s deadline and Graham Potter now looks certain to land Fernandez.
According to a report from The Guardian, it is claimed that the Blues have continued the talks with Benfica over signing Fernandez despite the breakdown in negotiations between the two clubs earlier this month.
Chelsea are understood to be ready to pay the eyewatering sum of £115 million in installments which works well for them after hefty spending since the last summer with Todd Boehly forking out more than £450 million on incomings.
Fernandez wants the move to the Bridge and the 21-year-old’s potential arrival in west London could set the stage for Chelsea veteran Jorginho to sign for Arsenal who have emerged as serious contenders for the Italy international.
