Chelsea are said to be closing in on signing Monaco defender Benoit Badiashile in a £35 million deal to strengthen their injury-stricken backline.
Badiashile has earned two full caps for France and has grown into one of the top talents in the Ligue 1 which has piqued Chelsea’s interest in snapping him up ahead of the upcoming January transfer window.
According to a report from Sky Sports, it is claimed that the Stamford Bridge giants are nearing the completion of the deal to land the 21-year-old Badiashile from Monaco who has courted attention from West Ham United and Sevilla in the past.
The west London outfit had been searching for a new left-sided centre-back with their top target being the RB Leipzig talent Josko Gvardiol but his rising value is believed to have convinced Chelsea to look at other alternatives.
Chelsea spent big on the signing of Wesley Fofana in the summer window with the young Frenchman joining the Blues from Leicester City only to suffer a long-term injury early on in his stint in the English capital.
