Chelsea are said to be closing in on signing Molde’s promising striker David Datro Fofana for a fee in excess of £8 million, according to a report from Sky Sports News.
The teenage forward is tipped to link up with his new side Chelsea in January when the transfer window reopens for business as the Blues manager Graham Potter looks to add to his options in the final third of the pitch.
Brighton were the early contender for Fofana’s signature where the 19-year-old would have been ensured regular game time but it is reported that the player is a fan of Chelsea which has sealed the deal in the Blues’ favour.
Fofana has netted 15 times in 24 league outings for Molde this campaign and his move to the Bridge appears to be timely with Chelsea losing their striker Armando Broja to a knee injury that has sidelined him for the remainder of the season.
Graham Potter’s side are looking for both short-term and long-term options in the market this January with the Chelsea manager having only Kai Havertz and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as his natural No.9’s in the senior squad.
