Chelsea chief Todd Boehly has reportedly cooled his interest in signing Ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez who could be on the move to the Bundesliga this coming summer.
Alvarez was a top name on the shopping list for the Blues last year and the Premier League giants were again credited with an interest in the Mexico international during the January transfer window.
According to a report from The Daily Express, however, it is claimed that Chelsea co-owner Boehly has made an about-turn on signing Alvarez who now has Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund chasing his signature.
It is believed that Boehly’s change of decision on moving in for the Ajax first-teamer is due to the other midfield targets on the shortlist at Stamford Bridge where a major squad rebuild is on the cards for later in the year.
The anticipated arrival of Mauricio Pochettino as the club’s next head coach this summer will set the stage for a number of high profile departures from the Chelsea camp with the club looking to reduce the size of their bloated squad.
