Chelsea boss Graham Potter was lavish in his praise for the returning N’Golo Kante who was a part of Chelsea’s matchday squad for the weekend’s clash against Everton.
It was the Frenchman’s first inclusion in the Chelsea squad since August last year when he picked up a hamstring injury and was sidelined for the majority of the 2022-23 season.
Kante is yet to turn out under the new Blues manager Graham Potter and the latter admitted in his remarks to the press ( via Goal) that Kante’s return would be a huge boost for his side who are struggling to achieve consistency in their results to move up the league table.
“Managers before me have spoken very highly of him because he is a top, top player.
“He has been a huge miss to us. That’s not to say others have not given absolutely everything but N’Golo Kante is N’Golo Kante. Once he is at his highest level, he is a huge player for us.
“We need to do the steps right to get him back up to speed. We want him to be the player that he is but in a responsible way, done as safely as we can. It’s great to have him with us.”
The former Leicester City midfielder remains committed to penning a new deal at Stamford Bridge which would see him stay put for at least another two years as his current contract was due to expire this summer.
Kante was reportedly on the wishlist of Barcelona with the Catalan giants weighing up a move to sign the World Cup-winning France international on a free transfer.
