Chelsea boss Graham Potter remained coy when pressed upon his plans for the upcoming January transfer window which starts in the New Year.
Potter has been urged to add to his injury-hit roster when the transfer window reopens for business with the Blues suffering back to back Premier League defeats and moving down to seventh in the league table.
With the pressure building up on Potter ahead of Chelsea’s final game before club football takes a break for the World Cup in Qatar later this month, the 47-year-old admitted in his pre-match remarks that Chelsea will not be repeating the spending spree of the summer.
“I think there is more to come from the team we have and the group we have.
“We’ve had some key players out: (N’Golo) Kante, (Ben) Chilwell, (Reece) James, Fofana. They are key players and a couple of them are replacing key ones who left in the summer.
“I think we can do better than we have and that is where my focus is on.
“Yeah, I’m pretty sure we will,” he added. “We have a regular dialogue anyway. Sometimes you need to reflect, think and analyse. Absolutely, we need to think about what’s happened and what we can do to improve.”
The Stamford Bridge giants have been linked with a few of the biggest names across European football as Chelsea’s misfiring front line and injury-stricken midfield could prompt Potter to dip into the market for reinforcements.
Chelsea currently sit five points off a place in the top four in the league standings but have advanced to the Round of 16 in the Champions League where they have been drawn against Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund.
