Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has admitted that midfielder N’golo Kante will not be available for the game against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday but Antonio Rudiger is fit to return.
The Blues have not managed to get off to a great start to life at Stamford Bridge as a manager as he has managed only one win so far in four Premier League games, accumulating only five points out of a possible 12. The West London outfit also lost the UEFA Super Cup to Merseyside giants Liverpool last month but the 41-year-old is looking for a new challenge at the weekend as he has a few injury concerns as well as a few key players returning from injury.
German center-back Antonio Rudiger has been training regularly and the 26-year-old defender is deemed fit to play against Wolves at the Molineaux. While speaking to reporters, Lampard was asked about Rudiger to which he replied, “He is fit. It’s a choice for me, but he will have an important role. We have missed him as we have with a few more front line players. It is important in a team. I don’t want a young team for the sake of it. He can be influential. He is ready to take on those roles.”
Lampard was then asked about one of his best players so far in the form of N’golo Kante and the 41-year-old has admitted that Chelsea will miss the World Cup-winning Frenchman for the trip to Wolves, “N’Golo is not fit, Kovacic is, This game has come too soon for him, hopefully close. We are waiting for that final step, but hopefully, that will be the same time.”
